From the dead pine needles on the carpet, strewn silver tinsel that seems to multiply, and remnants of ripped-open Christmas presents, my house was in desperate need of an overhaul.
But after hours of scrubbing, sweeping, mopping and dusting, I was in desperate need of some relaxation.
Time to replenish with some squares of very dark chocolate with a glass of fruity effervescent Muscat, a gift from my friend Sally.

This bottle of California Orange Muscat wine is light in alcohol and big in juiciness. The sweet, peachy, and floral flavor was tempered by each lovely bite of super dark chocolate–my favorite.
At cleaning day's end, I curled up on my couch with my glass, enjoying the spectacular and rare view of a spotless living room—and an inspired pairing. Ahh, thanks Sally.
