Face to FaceBottle of Tanqueray Rangpur and glasses

I met one of my clients in person for the first time this week. Technology makes it easy to connect and work with colleagues and clients from afar. But there’s something about a face to face — even just once for no reason other than happy hour — that is so … energizing.

When he ordered a Bombay martini straight up, we immediately started discussing different brands of gins — Boodles, Tanqueray 10, Hendricks. Turns out, his favorite drink is The Vesper, and I had to confess to this side-project of mine. Of course, we didn’t just talk about gin, and I now better understand his business and the way his team works.

But the best part? I can’t wait to tell him about this limey Rangpur ™ Martini.

Rangpur Martini Recipe

3 oz. Tanqueray Rangpur gin
2 drops aromatic bitters (optional)
lime twist

Pour gin in a shaker FULL of ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with the lime twist.

Too strong for you? Pour over ice and top with soda water.

Rangpur tastes like: The way fresh lime trees smell, outside, in the springtime.

Goes with this music:

Shake It, Sip It, Swing It icon
Limes, Salt, Sand & Spice
Vespers in the Lounge

Happy Hour Idea: Blind Gin Tasting

So many of our friends don’t like gin. They say it smells like perfume or they’ve had too much of it at some time and it left a bad aftertaste.

But a good gin can really add complexity and sophistication to a cocktail. Challenge your friends with a gin tasting. Freeze 3 or 4 bottles of gin. Pour a teaspoon of each to compare.

  • Bombay Saphire
  • Plymouth
  • Tanqueray (basic, 10, or Rangpur)
  • Hendricks
  • Boodles

Mix up your favorite gin in one of these awesome gin drink recipes.
